For my college degree (MSc), I had to validate a number of courses by succeeding at end-of-term examinations (or occasionally repeat examinations…), in-class tests, home assignments and projects. The range of subjects was very broad in my school: maths, physics, chemistry, electronics, economy, management, foreign languages… It was also mandatory to spend 6 months abroad. The last semester consisted of a 6-month internship in a research lab or at a company, for which I had to write a thesis describing my work.

My primary degree was:
Year 1: Maths, Biology Chemistry & Physics: lots of labs & end of year exams
Year 2 Maths Physics & Computing: more labs & end of year exams
Year 3 Maths & Physics :labs & as above end of year exams
Year 4 Physics: research project plus labs & end of year exams
…. its all a long time ago so hard to remember!!!!!For my B.Eng I studied modules in Computing & Maths & Information Technology. Plus Engineering Science and more I can’t remember
For the Masters it was an online degree with a new module every 8 weeks… weekly assignments & end of module exam…. repeat every 8 weeks for 2 years plus a 30,000 research thesis….
My PhD was 4 years of research, analysis & writing 100,000 word thesis
No wonder I’m tired đŸ˜‰ -

For Bachelors+Masters degree, I had to pass about 40 exams (5 maths exams, basic of electrotechnics, electrical circuits, electromagnetics, electronics, telecomunications, programming&algorithms, and many more) + to do a final project (which in my case was using maths for analysing human voice).
For PhD, I didn’t have any real exams, but I had to do a lot of experiments, describe them, write them as scientific papers and present them at a conference (at least 4 papers), describe all of them together in a thesis, and finally present and explain the thesis.

I studied general science in TCD, so in first year I did 1/3 biology, 1/3 chemistry, and 1/3 maths. Then in 2nd year I had 2/3 biology and 1/3 maths. I had to specialise in 3rd and 4th year so I did zoology, which is mostly biology but we had some computer coding and statistics too
